Pregnancy is not the only thing to be concerned about after having sex. STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) and STIs (sexually transmitted infections) are common. Some can be cured. Some cannot. Many have lifelong effects.
- Alabama is among the highest in the nation for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia & Syphilis.
- More than 19 million new cases of STIs are diagnosed each year.
- By the age of 50, at least 80 percent of women will have acquired genital HPV (Human Papilloma Virus).
- 1 in 4 teenage girls have been infected with an STI.

Women's Hope Medical Clinic provides free and confidential STI screenings. Appointments must be scheduled in advance for STI visits. We test for seven major STIs:
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhea
- Syphilis
- Herpes*
- HIV / AIDS
- Trichomoniasis
- HPV / Genital Warts (Human Papilloma Virus)
*The Hospital charges a small fee for the blood test on the Herpes screening.
