Limited Ultrasounds and Prenatal Care

Ultrasounds

Women's Hope Medical Clinic provides limited ultrasound services to eligible patients who have been diagnosed with pregnancy. The nurse will determine whether or not the patient is eligible for this service. The limited ultrasound is performed for only two reasons:
  1. To determine gestational age
  2. To attempt to identify fetal heart activity
An ultrasound will not be performed for patients who simply want to see their baby, learn the sex of their baby or to detect fetal abnormalities.

Prenatal Care

Women's Hope Medical Clinic provides limited prenatal services to eligible patients who have been diagnosed with pregnancy. The nurse will determine whether or not the patient is eligible for this service. What we will do for you:
  • Review your medical history.
  • Draw a prenatal blood profile (all blood samples are processed through East Alabama Medical Center). Iron levels and hemoglobin will be monitored on a monthly basis.
  • Provide a pelvic exam and physician consultation.
  • STD Testing will be performed at your first visit.
  • Offer nutritional counseling and fetal development information.
  • Discuss emotional and/or spiritual needs.
  • Provide prenatal care up to 20 weeks of pregnancy, then assist you in establishing with an OB.
